Common questions

Where is my logbook saved?

On your phone, and in your cloud if you chose one: Files app › iCloud Drive › POCUS Log, or Google Drive › POCUS Log. That folder has your images, an up-to-date Excel file and a backup the app can restore.

How do I move my logbook to a new phone?

Install POCUS Log on the new phone and choose the same place you used before (“Save to iCloud” with the same Apple Account, or “Save to Google Drive” with the same Google account). The app will offer to restore your logbook. Images may take a few minutes to download.

How do I get an Excel copy?

Logbook tab › Excel, or Settings › Export to Excel. You can email it, save it to Files or upload it to your ePortfolio.

Can I add scans from my computer?

Yes. Go to pocuslog.net/app and sign in with the same Apple or Google account you use in the app (Settings › POCUS Log account). Choose the scan type and date, add your images and press “Send to my phone”. Next time you open POCUS Log on your phone, the scan is added to your logbook.

How do I give my supervisor access?

Go to Settings › Supervisor access (or tap “Supervisor access” on the Home screen), sign in with Apple or Google, type your supervisor’s email and tap “Give access”. Your email app opens with a private link ready to send. Your supervisor can open it on any computer or phone, with no account, to see your scans, images and sign-offs and to comment on any scan. Their comments appear on that scan in your app. You can remove access at any time.

How does supervisor sign-off work?

Open a scan, tap “Supervisor sign-off” and hand your phone to your supervisor. They add their name, role, the entrustment level they observed and an optional comment.

Which scan types are included?

Procedural (peripheral and central vascular access, fascia iliaca block, other nerve blocks), core diagnostic applications as grouped in the RCEM 2021 curriculum (eFAST, AAA, echo, lung and pleural), plus DVT, biliary, renal and bladder, early pregnancy, MSK, soft tissue, ocular and other.

How do groups work?

Open the Groups tab and sign in with Apple or Google. Create a group (private with an invite code, or open to anyone) or join one. To share, open a scan in your logbook and tap “Share to a group”. Members can like and comment. Every post can be reported, and you can block people.

How do I delete what I shared?

Open the post and tap the ••• button › Delete post. To delete everything, go to Settings › Groups account › Delete groups account.

Can I add images of patients?

Only anonymised images with no patient identifiers. POCUS Log is a training logbook, not a medical record.
